To get started creating your scope of work from an existing template in Word online, just follow the step-by-step instructions and images below:
Getting your scope of work document started in Microsoft Word
Click here to open Word online. You’ll need to log in or create a free Microsoft account to get started.
Begin by clicking the “More templates” link on the right side of the page.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click on the “Explore all templates” link located on the bottom right corner of the page.
In the menu on the left, expand the “Browse by Category” tab and scroll down and click “more” to expose the entire list. Scroll further down and click on the “Bids and quotes” category link.
Next, click on the “Statement of Work” template located within the options.
You should now be on the template page (as shown below). If you have a desktop version of Microsoft Word, you can download the template by clicking the blue download button. To continue with Microsoft Word online, click on the gray “Open in browser” button.
The template should now be open and ready to edit as shown below.
Note: Microsoft doesn’t support content controls in their online version of Word, so the red placeholder text will not update throughout the document as indicated in their tips section. If you’re using a desktop version of Word, the placeholder copy should work as stated.
You can now begin to modify the document to best fit your company, brand, and project details.
You want to make sure you also modify the headers and footers in the document. To do that, simply click on any of the small tabs located on the right side of the top or bottom of the page. Clicking any one of these tabs will allow you to edit both sections.
To see how your finished scope of work document is coming along at any point in time, you can simply click on the file menu and choose print to access a preview of your document.
Once all of your changes are in place, be sure to save the document so it can be accessed and reused as a template for all of your projects in the future.
Hopefully you found this scope of work tutorial for Microsoft Word helpful and easy to follow.
